Service Times
Sundays
9am – Holy Eucharist with Hymns (Family Service)
Children are always welcome at Holy Innocents and the 9am service is especially designed to welcome them and their families. There are coffee and refreshments for all immediately following the service.
10am – Godly Play
Godly Play is offered for children from three to ten years old. Middle-schoolers in the Rite 13 group also meet during that time.
11am – Choral Eucharist
Music is an integral part of this service, in which the Schola Cantorum leads the congregation in singing hymns and graces the service with a rich selection of choral anthems. All are invited to join us for coffee hour following the service.
Last Sunday of the Month
There is only one service on the last Sunday of each month at 9:30am. Child friendly and a real welcoming experience for the congregations, it is a chance for our whole worshiping family to meet. A coffee hour mixer follows.
Wednesdays
5:45 pm Evening Prayer
6:00 pm Potluck
A traditional service of evening prayer is held in the Lady Chapel at 5:45, followed by a potluck supper at 6:00pm. All are welcome, whether you’ve brought a dish or not!
7:00 pm – Christian Education
During the summer, we will continue to meet for Christian Education following the potluck.
About Services
All who worship at Holy Innocents are invited to participate in the liturgy in whatever ways they feel called. If you are called to the ministries of being an acolyte or being a part of the Altar party, reading the lessons, reading the Prayers of the People, serving as an usher, or contributing to hospitality we have a Rota which keeps track of who’s doing what each week.
If you are interested in serving in this way, and have never served before, please email vicar(at)holyinsf.org.
Holy Innocents Church uses the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) to determine the readings for each Sunday’s service. Each Eucharist has particular readings assigned depending on the liturgical season and the life of the Church. For each services there is a reading from Hebrew Scriptures, a Psalm, a reading from the Epistles, and a reading from the Gospel.
To find what will be read on any given Sunday, visit http://www.lectionarypage.net/
If you are a lector, you are encouraged to read the passage before the service, and reflect on it. This will help you to participate with the congregation in the Liturgy of the Word, proclaiming the Word of God to your neighbors.
